    Hello
I need a temporary oil plug for my xj1100
I know that the plug is the same for most xjs and sacas from the 8o's
What I need to know is the thread size so I can try to find a short bolt that I can use until my new one comes. Unless you know of another way of capping it safely. It's a great week of hot weather up here in the Northeast and I want to RIDE RIDE RIDE :D
    PS
Would a steel bolt be an issue in the aluminum case?

    Thanks

The drain plug is steel I am talking about the filler plug I am sure it is aluminum.
What should I use to plug it for a week or two?

A large plastic plug ought to work, just be sure it fits good and snug. You can always throw some duct tape over it for temporary insurance.

Or...if you want to get a rubber plug from Lowes, kind of like the ones used in the two-bottle carb synch, I am sure it would work for a little while.

It's gonna take a WEEK OR TWO to get the replacement? PM me with your address and I'll drop a scruffy loaner in the mail.

I believe they are M12 x 1.5(M14 x 1.5 is also possible) . Auto parts stores sell them for 3$ each. It only takes 30 minutes to go get one.
