Here are a few pictures of my 1982 Maxim 750, I am slowly trying to transform it into a cruiser, I added my new saddle bags, new round rear turn signals, new round 7" headlight, I still have to add round turn signals up front, new rear fender and a tail light. I also am planning on adding two small low wattage driving lights to it also.

By the way I removed the square head light and the auxillary light. Also the 7" headlight is simply a round 7" offroad light, although I lose my high beam I now have the ability to turn off the headlight. The light coming out of the new light seems to be alot more then the original head lamp.

    Impulse,
I am doing the same mod. I hated the looks of the square headlight, so I swapped it for a round healight housing. I used the off-road type housing, but the Halogen light is really bright (100w!!0 which would be too hard to get adjusted without getting blasted by oncoming highbeams and pissing pople off.
My solution was to go to a salvage yard (lucky enough I have one close by) and get a 7" headlight that uses a halogen bulb and switch it for the one you have in there now. It should fit in your housing with no problem. You can also use a sealed beam (automotive) headlight and have high/low beams too. They will have tabs on the outside of the headlight and you'll need to make provisions for the tabs in your housing to accept the glass beam. That can be done by making small cuts (about 1/2") around the edge of the chrome housing. You will need to hold the headlight up to the housing (level) and mark the places where the tabs touch, and make your cuts there.
If you have trouble, PM me and I'll either talk you thru it or I can send photos of mine by email. (I have trouble posting photos on this forum) >PD<

could you send some pics when your done to getawaybandit@yahoo.com

The bulb in my light is a 55watt H3 bulb, I took a little ride around the block last night and it seemed to put out quite alot of light. At the moment it doesn't really bother me that I am missing the high beam, but I might consider doing what you talked about in the future

    thanks
