Hey guys, I just got given these bad boys, and I'm thinking they will fit, but i want to check first before i go hacking my current mufflers off.

They are from a 2008 Harley Dyno Superglide 1600cc. These were taken off 500 km after the bike was bought new.

The diameter is 1 3/4, which is a start. As you can see I will have to get a piece of metal cut to go from the muffler to the frame. Otherwise is there anything that would prevent this from fitting?

I believe you will also need spacers to go into the muffler to make it smaller but dont quote me on that but they are cheap should work fine

I believe the 650 has 1-1/2" pipes where the muffler connects to the collector box

I got the mufflers on. now I have to somehow find some bracket. Also, that chrome piece that goes in front of the muffler....well the one had to get ruined and the other doesn't fit now anyways. Any suggestions on what to use to make one muself? What is that chrome piece called by the way?

By the way did the 1 3/4 inch muffler fit on with out an adapter? I have a pair of slash cut Harley mufflers which I am putting on my 81' XJ SecaR and I have found that I am going to have to either find or make spacers to use them. I believe my 750 is 1 1/2" pipes and the Harley mufflers are 1 3/4" if I remember right but what I like with the ones I have is that it is straight through exhaust with no baffles. I want to keep the baby breathing plenty of free air. Good luck! grunt007,81XJ750SecaR, Mi.

Yes, they did fit...the welds on the mufflers made it a thicker diameter than 1 1/2. It ended up being pretty tight. Now time for the bracket

simple enough go to the hardware store in the lumber dept they have different thickness metal straps to tie together supports for rafters see attached picture They can be bent drilled and will work on your existing mounts. I pretty much had to adapt from the collector back including the muffler What ever the tail pipe came off of the mounting bracket was horizontal on my bike took 10 min to adapt. They make them in different lengths and thicknesses some with little holes some without. There is nothing better then a good working exhaust cheap. The hole system on my maxim x $68.00 with pain and that muffler was new + shipping. Glad the mufflers worked how do you like the sound

I will take a look in that department tomorrow, but i don't want my bracket to have holes in it except for both holes for the bolts

I audio taped the before and after sound...I will have to review it and see once I am done these other jobs

Post the sound after you get it sorted out. you might be able to hide the bracket completely. There are lots of spots you can bolt it to under there.

from what i see it looks like the mufflers will be mounted a bit different. If you look at the factory mufflers the bracket is on the inside of the muffler, but these Harley ones, it looks like I will have to sort of bend the bracket because these new mufflers aren't in the same position. i guess it's the Megaphone look compared to the tapered look.

thanks man, the price was right too. $5 for the metal I had to buy to make a bracket. All done. now I just have to wait for the heat shields to arrive. I wish I could post sounds on here for you to listen to....

Also, what would i use to not have an exhaust leak from where the muffler is a tad larger than the pipes they slid on?

how much is a tad few 1000th 1/4 inch ? . They make inerts that slip in the muffler you can buy at auto parts store. If it is really close you can cut a coke can and use pieces for shims

ya, I got everything to stay nice and tight...no worries about that, but don't I want the exhaust fumes to go out the back of the muffler instead of some through the cracks where the muffler meets the pipe? Maybe this is me and my rookie-ness showing :)

hell, I am 52 and still a rookie!
What Cutlass said is dead on. Coke can.
I prefer a beer can just so I can say it's a beer can.
    Good luck!

so metal would stop the exhaust from coming out of there? I didn't think it was that easy, but i've been wrong once or twice before

it is like a metal washer, kinda. Since there isn't a lot of pressure, like say, an oil line, it should do fine, just like the shims from the autoparts store...only cheaper.

I would use something more substantial; metal cut from a beer or soda can will likely burn through in short order.

I just went for my first ride since they went on. I like the sound..not a huge difference until higher RPM, and a bit louder.

My problem though. the kick stand doesn't go up as high as it usually does. I guess it's because the megaphone mufflers started skinny and got really large. These hrley Mufflers start large and go smaller. I don't care if the kickstand isn't as high as usual, but would this look stupid? The part that you push to get the kick-stand down sticks out approximately 3-4 inches from the muffler compared to before when it was pretty much just the ball part that stuck out.
