I have a friends maxim x at my place doing a little work on it. It runs nice and has about 24k on it. Paint looks pretty good for the age. My nephew is looking for a bike and he said he would sell it to him for 800 bucks. Does that sound like an ok deal? I don't have any idea what this thing would be worth.

I paid $1500 for mine, so if it's in as good enough shape as you say it is, that might not be a bad deal at all.

While your doing the little bit of work on it run a compression test. If the numbers are good. The the motor is sound. A good runner with a sound motor is deffiantely worth the asking price. Plenty of room to work with for repairs/upgrades.

Also check the date codes on the tires, and brake hoses. If nothing else you will know what to keep an eye on in the future. I assume that he will come to you when it needs to be fixed.

One in reasonable condition will normally bring 1400-1750
Very nice condition can get you over $2k if the right buyer happens along.

I've gotten x's from 300-700. My personal EX cost 500, and it is for sale after extensive work for $2200

If the dent int he tank is the only problem I'd jump on it.
