The tank on my '82 XJ1100J is in need of paint and body work. It's the stock black now and I'm inclined to keep everything that way...but then again maybe I'm missing out on another really cool color that I haven't seen or thought of.
When I paint I'll do everything that's painted (except the frame), tank, side covers, accents on the bars and backrest, etc...so changing colors is an option.
Anyone have any thoughts and/or pics of the same bike with other colors of paint?
Hard to beat black and chrome...but it's nice to be a little different too...

actually its really quite easy to beat black. black is the most boring color available...

    just my opinion...

suggesting paint is a hard thing to do If you like chroma and black do it if you like purple and orange go for it. Go car and bike shopping to look at colors and look at online catalogs of color. Then do whatever appeals to your eye and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

I was sort of hoping for more pictures of folks who had painted their similar bikes other colors than stock...
Maxims are fairly plain in that they don't have a bunch of decals and such like the Secas to brighten things up and they have minimal painted surfaces. To me it limits my options a bit in order to end up with something that looks good.
I'd mainly curous what other people have done to make theirs out of the box...

    Mike,
Here are a couple of pics of my custom paint job. This color has really grown on me and now I love it. It is a dark, dark, smoke or charcoal gray with pearl flakes. The flames are very subtle, but really show up depending on the angle of the sunlight. I think any color that's different (custom) is great. Good luck and post some pics after you paint yours.
