I just picked up a 550 seca and the clutch plates were stuck together. I followed the clutch 101 post and cleaned them up really well and tensioned the rod and throwout accordingly and it still wasn't working. To test if I could actuate the mechanism at all, I adjusted the tension on the throwrod / cable to the point where even in first gear (with engine off etc) I can turn the rear wheel without engaging the clutch...there was still resistance, and engaging the clutch will lower the resistance but still not enough to freely spin the wheel like in neutral :(

    Any suggestions?

I found another thread where another member with this issue and it turned out to be incorrect assembly of the boss spring and special plate...*mine didn't have either of these components when I took it apart...just 7 identical tabbed metal and 8 black grabby plates
