    Need edvice!!
    Hi
I need new ball bearings to my rearwheel. But as they mounted 1 from each side and a tube between, I can't find a good place to hit it and get it out? Besides the only place to put a hit is a small piece in the center of the bearings.
Anyone knows if I need a special tool, or how to do?

A strong flat screwdriver will start the process. Use it to catch the edge of the bearing and hit it a few times to start pushing it out. Once its out enough use a brass punch to get it all the way out. Be sure to remove any snap rings before starting.

I've replaced about three wheel bearings using a concrete anchor like this one from home depot
    Concrete Anchor

Just crank it down in the bearing and hammer it out thru the other side using a punch. Sometimes, they can be really stubborn. Spray the outside of the bearing down with PB Blaster or the sort to help lubricate it when it starts to move.
For installation I use one of the old bearings and a piece of wood to hammer it back in. Make sure it starts straight and be sure to clean the inner surface that the outer part of the bearing will press into.

Hope that helps. I'm sure there are all sorts of procedures for wheel bearings.

If you haven't tried Kroil, then now is a good time to give it a try.

A blind bearing puller works wonders. If you're near me (baltimore, MD) you're welcome to bring your wheel by and in about 5 minutes we'll have them out.

I don't know if this idea will work for our Yamaha's but on a BMW the mech used 2 propane torches to heat the 'aluminium' that surrounds the bearing. Just a thought.

    Buy a 9-Inch "Line-up Tool".

    Remove the Splined Hub.
Drive the Bearing out of the Hub.
    Collect the Spacer.
Drive the other Bearing OUT the opposite way.

Well, in this case the secret was to start punchin out the opposite one first, after that I had plenty of room to get the other out :)
