I've been working on my xj for a little while now. The carburetor has been completely cleaned and some parts in it were replaced ( even though i had to fix a broken float tower :( ). Compression tests were done and shims replace were made. In addition, fuel flow checks out: fuel comes out of the the tank and through the valve in the "PRI" position. Lastly, oil and oil filter were changed; new spark plugs were installed; battery is completely charged and ready to go.

Is there anything else I need to do before I put gas through the carburetor, and then put it back on the bike before trying to start her up?

Have you checked the float levels using the clear tube method? The level is very important, too high and you can flood, to low and the engine will run lean.....check the carbs now, before you put them on.

Make sure your tank is clean, and add an inline fuel filter. No sense in contaminating your clean carbs with rust residue from a dirty tank.
