I would suggest removing the brine after the pickle soak THEN oil.

Who knows what that brine would do.

even if I weren't a shifty shafty rider I'm afraid I just could NOT bring myself to do that.
some close friends and I, about the only folks I really enjoy riding as a group, have a running joke. Every so often at the end of a meal or fuel and pee stop one of us will just pipe up and ask the group "Hey, anybody want a pickle?" and folks in on it respond in the negative and wander off to our bikes humming.

Same thing as soaking parts in vinegar; which by the way works great for some things like removing corrosion from things like throttle and choke cable brackets, screws, and other bits of hardware. http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=19611.html

When I think about it... it does kinda make sense.... vinegar is a really good cleaner + degreaser... bet you would get a similar result with vinegar and a sponge

Also imbedded in the article is a link to anothe topic, spoke reflectors. Another giveaway to the fact that its a joke. Nobody at Ducati would sanction "Spiffy Spokes"
