On my Maxim, the blue high-beam indicator light works but is very dim compared to the green, orange, and red indicators. At night it's easy to see, but on a bright sunny day, it's hard to tell if the blue is even on, while the green nuetral light is very easy to see. Just wonderin' if that is the norm....

Not really. Probably a dirty or bad bulb, or a some oxidation causing bad contact in the socket.

On mine I replaced it with a blue LED, and then had to put some tape over it because it was way too bright.

All 4 of my Yamahas are like that. A little hard to see in the day but clearly visible at night. You don't want it to bright to blind you at night.

Makes sense to me. If it was as bright as the green light, it could prove to be a distraction while driving at night. Of course, for the blinker or the oil light, you WANT to notice so they should be fairly bright. As for the neutral, it won't be on while driving (unless you miss a shift, then you will want to see it, so you will know why your vroom isn't getting to the wheel!)

I agree with mlew. Mine has always seemed this way.

I also have LED lights (in the atari) and can barely see the blue during the day time.

I think it's partly the blue plastic on the bike as well as the less bright? blue led.

I don't feel like googling color light wavelengths, but some are definitely brighter all other things being equal.
