Ok guys, I'm curious if I can put a drum brake on an '82 1100 maxim? Or do i need to get an entirly different rear end at that point. Reason i assk is two fold.

    1. I moved to NC from Wa. state, and for some reason the brake mechanism wont return after being depressed. cant figure out why but if i really wanted too i could rip it apart, clean it and pit it back together. But that goes into part two...

    2. I dont like the look of the caliper/disk look on the rear wheel. Ive seen the drums and, aesthetically, I like the drums better. so if i have to tear it apart, i'd rather put the drum on anyway.

So, yeah, therre it is. Any imput would be great.
    thanks guys.

Stick with the disc setup. They give you a lot better stopping power. I doubt you would be able to find a rear wheel set up for drum brakes and shaft drive that would work anyways. It is not difficult to rebuild your current setup. You can get all the parts you will need from Chacal at XJForever. You can pm him and his catalog can be accessed by clicking on the banner with the motor in the upper right corner of the page.

Rear disc brakes?! Must be nice. I wonder what it would take to convert my drum brake set up to a caliper/rotor system...
