Hey, im shopping for some new rear shocks for my 82 xj 550 maxim.

I found some that fit the XS 650 for the same year as mine.

They are 12.5 eye to eye.

My bike is in storage at the moment so I cant go run out and measure them but are the xj550's 12.5 eye to eye also?

Finally, the shocks are monza sports. Anyone have any experience with these? They are very affordable at $89 a pair, which is good because the bike isnt worth a whole lot.

    Think they will fit?

    thanks
(sorry if this has already been posted)

Manual states rear spring frre length as 9.39 inches but doesn't give the total shock length.

But a search of oldbikebarn shows XJ 550 shocks shows 12 3/4 so 12.5 would be fine.

I read this topic, but there seemed to be no activity with it for a week or so. Im going to wait another week or so before I order any shocks. Hopefully the deal goes through because the shocks that the member is getting sound better than the ones Im looking at.

Thanks for the replies, I came across a yamaha xs sight that caries a lot of parts, especially hard to find ones, for the XS at reasonable prices. Im hoping other parts are interchangeable between the two bikes as well.

I'm pretty sure the common opinion on the Monza Sports is that they're no better than the stockers. I was looking at progressives for my XJ, but they're over $200.
