    Hey guys,
I have a Vance n Hines 4 into 1 and it sounds like a crotch rocket and when I pass someone they always tell me it sounds like they are getting attacked by bees :/ ... I was wondering... If I were to pick up a stock harley muffler... how well will it fit with the 4 into 1? Is it even possible? I am looking for a nice growl or something loud.

How bad on the bike is it to just rip the vance n hines muffler off and just use the headers?

    Thanks guys!

    Happy riding

    Ryan

I am always amazed at how those guys with their crotch rockets work so hard to get their bikes to sound like my lawn mower.

Running straight pipes will open a whole hornets nest of headaches. Some of them very litterally. You can start with a whole new round of jetting the carbs and trying to get the bike to run right again. Finish off by going to the doc to find out why you are not able to hear so well any more. If I have to explain!

What about running 1 foot to 2 foot of just straight pipe...? Will that cause some headaches too?

Hey Dykema, Take a look at the exhaust I made with full length straight pipes...I am seriously thinking about adding baffles cause that biotch is LOUD

1-2 footers might be painful 8O

Go to the second vid of how the exhaust sounds on the bottom of the last page...

I had a 4-1 when I bought my bike. The muffler removed it self on a ride to work one day. Bracket bolt broke on one of these fine MD roads. I rode it home 30 miles on an open header. That was cool for about 5 minutes. Very loud and not a good loud at that. Plus every time you stop the 4-1 exits it's collector right next to your right foot.

I all so have a Vance&Hines4-1 on one of my XJ750 have you tried removing the baffle? And the Harley muffler would have to be pretty wide to fit the header and collector.

And you would need a big peace of pipe if you wanted to replace the muffler with a straight pipe.
