    Hello everyone!
I have a bit of an odd question. I would like to ride to work, but we require parking permits. Now, it's not one of those stick-on things, it's one you hang from your rearview mirror. I was wondering if anyone knew of a sturdy case with a clear viewing window that you could place the permit into and then mount to the bike. If I''m being too vague just let me know and I'll try harder to give more detail. Thanks for your time.

    PS - The permit is about 3.5in x 5.5in.

At my work we have parking permits for the cars. If we drive a motorcycle as well the license number, model and make are registered with work but we do not have a physical permit on the bike. Maybe your work would do something similar?

    If you have a windshield:
It should be just about the right size for an airport ID holder. You can find them at Walmart in the luggage/travel section.
Or, you could laminate it. My local public library laminates sheets for a dollar or two.

Either of these options could be taped to the inside of the windscreen and would be weatherproof.

    If no windshield:
Not too sure what would work right off the top of my head, but I'll keep thinking.

Laminate it and 3m molding tape it to the bike. Ie tank, side cover etc.

Go to the HR department and ask them what to do. The place I used to work at had those tags that you hang on your rear view mirror, but were impracticle for a bike. Ended up that we had so many guys on bikes that the company actually contracted to have two cement pads poured just for the employees with bikes, problem solved.
Anyway, just check with HR, all you may need to do is give a description of the bike and plate number which they will pass along to security (if you have them).

I bought an XJ with a UCF (You Can't Finish 8O ) sticker on a fork leg.

Asking HR is the way to go.

I had the same problem with State Park "seasonal admission" decals a few years back; they're designed to stick to the inside of a windshield.

I don't run a windshield. The DNR folks insisted it be affixed to something "permanent" to prevent inter-vehicle transfers.

My solution was to cut a hunk of relatively heavy clear plex about 5" X 8" and attach it to the rear frame rails of my Norton using regular "accessory" type frame clamps and stick the decals to that.

We have arm bands. The STICKERS they wanted to give us didn't fly.

Everyone, thanks for all the ideas and replies. For me, unfortunately, it's a small restaurant so no HR. The building is owned by another person so I decided to try and contact the owner...no word yet. For now I roll in the cage in the morning, head home on lunch, ride in for the evening portion. You could say I have a "hybrid"... :) Anyway, I'm gonna keep looking into options. Thinking of doing something similar to what Fitz did and get some plexiglass and make my own hardcase to hold the permit. Thanks again!

Why not just laminate, our encase it and attach it to your helmet lock while at work?
