    Hello there,

My name is Marc and ride a '85 XJ700Maxim in the Netherlands.
I've bought it last fall. It's a great bike but I felt the rear end looked a bit dull. I decided to take off the buddy seat and cut away some of the rear fender (half way). Now it has a nice and tight butt (and I like tight butts...!)

    See attachments for pics.

    Greetz...
    Marc

    Hi Marc

Welcome to the forum - it´s an invaluable wealth of knowledge about our bikes - and all the nice people here love to share it.

´bout the butt - nice, as long as you don´t want your girlfriend on it :)

    - and by the way - nice to see yet another european Maxim owner (we´re the chosen few, you know 8)

How hard was it to modify the seat? It was something that i have wanted to do but havent had the courage to go cutting up the factory equipment yet.

    Thanx Finn,
Yes it seems there are not many Maxim riders in Europe (left?).
    Anyway: we do.

    And....
I've made a cardboard fender at first. Then taped it to the steel fender and started cutting. It worked out quit well. I've made a little mistake though: I've also cut off a piece of the fender that I'd better had left. This is a small piece that covers the sides under the seat. But it's hard to see.

See pictures below for more info.
    See you all later...!
    Marc
