I'm wondering if anyone has done this, and if it's worth the hassle.

I live a few hours from the border and am wondering if it's worth the $1600 savings to import a bike I'm interested in rather than buy it from a local dealer.

Wondering if it would be much of a savings left after duty/tax/import fees/export fees, etc.

Check some local car owners' forums. I know here there are quite a few threads about this, but there may be differences from province to province.

    Or there's this: http://www.importcartocanada.info/guide ... om-the-us/

I would guess that the same rules apply to motorcycles...

You could also try calling up the friendly folks at CBSA if you have some specific questions.
