what kind of oil would you guys recommend on a '83 XJ550 with 7800 miles on it? is it too late for synthetic?

the bike will be driven a lot during the hot oklahoma summer... what weight oil would be ideal?

    thanks

It's not too late, I personally used Golden Spectrol Synthedic 20-50w, but I live in a really hot climate in Phoenix, you may want a thinner oil, but I ran that in Denver as well.
As for brand there are verying opinions, I hear Mobile 1 is among the best automotive synthedics, but I think any Synth, is far better then standard oil once an engine is broke in. It sure smoothed out shifting and the gear box as well on all my bikes .

Synthetic...it's definitely what's for dinner! (for your bike, that is...)

Do Note that there are.. Very Few ..genuine synthetic oils though..
Gotta watch out for that Brochure Babble :)
Mobil 1 and It's commercial brother Delvac are amoungst the 2 or 3 or 4 true synths . Several legal actions centre on the use of the word 'Synthetic' as applied to oil claims.
