Hey, well - long story short this very nice guy is gonna give me his xj650 that was in his back yard for a while. engine is not seized, has some compression-- but otherwise its a bit of a mess. been outside, no title or keys etc--.

that said, it does look like it could be brought back to life and I was planning to give it a shot.

i was gonna rent a trailer and go get it this weekend.

Then lightning struck!! I checked craigslist randomly last night "motorcycle" category and top of the list was a 1993 kawasaki volcan 750 with rear brakes weak and alternator/charging system shot - otherwise works fine. FOR FREE!!

dude! I won the lottery here and was the first person to email, he was only 3 miles away and I picked it up today and drove it home. its totally sweet!

but means i dont need the XJ, but i feel i need to follow through and get it out of this guys back yard. anyone interested? I'd help get it to you and stuff, i feel like I hit a karmic vein that makes me want to pass on the goodness if I can!

Guess that means I'm out on the Snapple offer. Hope you find a good home for the poor XJ. Congratulations on your new score, let us know how it pans out.

Any chance it has the side covers still attached? Willing to detach them, box em up and send them to Texas? For a nominal fee, of course, to be determined in a more private manner. :D

snapple offer still stands, :) we can have a couple snapples and go for a ride!

as for the bike, i rather the whole thing go to an enthusiest - its all there, so it would be a great parts bike for someone - or best case turn it into a rider. before any parts come off i rather wait to see if someone wants to rescue it. if not, then id be up for sending parts, but i dont want to make any money off it-- so it would just be shipping--

Jetboy, I have a feeling you're gonna have a hard time getting someone to take that off your hands unless they happen to live close. You can get a few hundered parting it out quick if you want some cash to work on that vulcan...

    Just my 2 cents...

Say, by chance you take my advice and part it out, I'd take the gauge cluster off your hands, as well as the 3 circular covers off the engine ( one on left, 2 on right ) if they're in good shape that is, and possibly the starter.

I like the clutch lever bracket if it is still there. I broke mine last night when I changed out my bars. Should not have wrenched on it so hard. Im local if you still have it.
    Cheers
