    Hey guys,

Currently I have a Vance & Hynes 4 into 1 exhaust system. I took off the muffler to see what shape it is in because the sound just recently became annoying. Come to find out... there is a hole almost the size of a dime 8O ... so I was wondering if anyone had any CHEAP ideas i could replace the V&H with that will give it a deeper NON-crotch rocket sound?

Passed a buddy of mine the other day and he said he thought he was being attacked by bees when i was passing him :x

Have you tried removing the baffle? Or drilling out the end can hollow?
    I have the same pipe.

Why not repair the hole? It must be hidden from view if you didn't see it before removal and with a section of aluminuim tape that the Duct work guys use about 18" long and a pack of J&B weld, you can repair it and make it look almost new!

sand the surface to clean and rough it up about 2" all around the hole, then smear a THIN layer of J&B all over the roughed area, cover with a piece of the alum tape and apply another thin coating of J&B. Let it sit at least 36 hours, then apply another thin coat of J&B and while still wet, another piece of alum tape, let sit another 36 hrs. Then apply two more coats of J&B allowing 24-48 hours between coats. now, sand carefully to smooth the edges without grinding down to the tape....once it's smooth, carefully spray with a color matching high temp paint ....they even make hitemp "chrome paint.....and you'll be good as new, well, almost...but it will last forever!!

So is the hole in the muffler or in the collector? I seem to remember you posting a thread on this a while back asking how you could make it sounds deeper.

i tried removing the baffle this morning... but that just made the hole even bigger. Im going to go to my local bike shop and see what they have laying around...

    al,

do you know what the diameter of the V&H is? Its got to be bigger than 2"... my guess is 2 1/4"?

i wish i had the old stock exhaust so i could put sportster mufflers on... i just dont have a lot of money i can throw into the bike just yet. so i need something cheap that will make the sound growl more.... i would like to use a cheap muffler from JCWhitney but am finding it hard to find the diameter i need...
