I've got a little issue with my bike. I can get it to idle fine and rev it just a little. But when I rev it high, it likes to stay up at about 5000 rpm. When I shut it off and start it back up, it goes straight to 5000 rpm. But, if I would move the idle adjustment screw just a little and then start it up, it goes back to idling fine. The throttle is not sticking. Could this be a vac leak? Thanks for the input. :(

Check the throttle quadrant is returning to closed, push it down with a screwdriver, if the revs stay high, it could be an air leak, or one or more butterflys are catching on the carb bodies.

Oh my goodness. I didn't think that it would take that long until I could get out there and check. Busy life. Anyway, I checked the throttle and everything is fine. I noticed that when it goes up to 5000rpm, it now comes down slowly. I guess that means there is a vac leak. Fun time for me. Wish me luck. :?

Someone on here told me the trick of blowing propane from a blowtorch etc around the inlets with the motor running and listening for an increase in engine speed, thus indicating a vaccum leak.

I found the vac leak in two places. Both were on top of the carbs, where the cap is. I guess it didn't seal very well or something.

Well, i got that fixed but for some reason the idle screw is messed up. Anyway, it almost winter now, so I am going to tear the whole thing down and restore the bike. Thanks for the help. I was just hoping to ride it before the weather changed. My project is underway now. Can't wait til next riding season.
