I have the original exhaust on my 1983 Maxim 650(4 exhaust going to 2 horns) and I want to remove the 4 - in -2 section and place a 4 - in - 1 exhaust but I don't want to purchase an entire 4 - in -1 exhaust. I just want a 4 - 1 - 1 collector because I want to use the original exhaust with a 4 - in - 1 collector or whatever you call it, with my exhaust.

Do anyone know where I can purchase one at and what exactly is the name of the device? A link to a website is great or name of the device is even greater.

    Thanks XJ brothers

do you mean you want to use the front half of your exhaust and simply re-route those to a single muffler?

not possible. the 4>1 front section crosses over and have a completely different shape.

Its also unlikely if you meant it the other way around because the pipe diameter of the muffler section of a 4>2 wont be big enough to fit over a 4>1 front section.

PTS, yes I wanted to take the front section of the pipes and re-route them to fit in a 4 in 1 exhaust.

    So its not possible? Ok

Well if anyone wants a 4 in 2 exhaust in exchange for a 4 in 1 exhaust let me know.

Hi. Don't want to swap out my 4 into 1, but thought I'd let you know what it is - Instead of the usual Motad thing (usual here in the UK anyway) I have a Sebring set-up which arrived on a donor machine which came from Germany originally. I've never seen another one of these - though they must have made plenty. Lovely large-bore, curvy headers too.

Anyone else got one of these?

Never heard of it but I'm young in the game(still learning).

Is it a 4 in 1 header? If so send me a PM and will talk.

Polock, which 4 tube collector you think would fit a 1983 XJ 650 Maxim?

probably none from that site.... the smallest 4 to 1 collector exits in a 2 1/4"... Thats pretty huge for a bike!

Yeah that's what I thought as well.

Has anyone placed a cb 550 or 750 4 into 1 exhaust on their bike?

That is sweet, I do wish it would fit. But I could always find a local muffler shop and have them modify those bad boys.

    Thanks Rob

What about a Turbo Seca Exhuast setup? It's got a flat 4-1 collector, but the output is a flange (bolts up to the turbo). Might be worth a look

Sorry man, that was a suggestion, I don't have one available. not surehow affordable that option would be compared to getting other 4-1 set-ups, but your original post was looking for a collector that fit stock headers, and that "might." I haven't started pulling apart my turbo yet, and don't have stock exhaust on my 750, so I don't know if I can be more helpful.

When you're shopping for a new exhaust, make sure you get something that retains access to the service points, especially the oil drain plug and filter. I'm in the market for a new 4 in 1 myself, my current one is pretty beat up (from previous owner) and it's a bear to get to the drain plug, I'd probably have to remove the whole system if I need to fully change the oil. Anyways, good luck!

Great info Ruledbyreason, I found a 4 in 1 exhaust from a member on our site. I am going to take the exhaust to a muffler shop once I get it to makes some adjustments for my after market exhaust, at a later time. I got an Yoshimura exhuast that will do the trick.
