The new Yamaha Sport-tourer comes with a 6-speed that you don't need to shift.
    It's a push-button shifter.
When you are ready for the next gear ... you push a little toggle switch and let the servo do the shifting.
    No "Cables"
    Throttle by wire technology.

Not going to make this weekend - but I'm planning on being at the April one - that's a fantastic show if you need to buy anything - lots of good deals there.

I'm in the market for a new jacket and some boots, so looking forward to it!

The bike was a wast of $ unless you want Harley parts. There wasn't one jap parts guy there and no XJs to be seen I will never wast 10$ on parking and 15$ to get in ever again.

Sorry you got caught with that one - many of us have been bitten by this show before only to find out it's a Hardley Ableson get-together.

Apologies for not putting it in my previous post

I got burned too. I thought this was the big show coming up in April. Personally, I like HD's so I chatted with a lot of the owners from the auction and toured the place a few times looking for some books and gear. I didn't buy anything but it was a nice day out of the house.

The one this weekend is the big show. You really can't compare the two. Definitely going to this one.

I want to go see one of the new, big ... "Ride by wire" Yamaha Sport-Tour Bikes.
Imagine ... a throttle with no physical wire pulling on a return spring. Just a "Position sensor" handling the load.

And ... Push-Button Manual Shifting on a conventional tranny with 6 gears!
Just touch a Control Button and servo's handle the clutch and shift the geat up or down.

And, no rear wheel skip if you're too heavy with the gear change ... the "Slipper Clutch" saves you from losing contact with the rear wheel.

Hah, i wish i had seen this thread earlier on, The march show really did bite the big one. First reaction to walking into the place was "where's the rest of the show?"

This one coming up this weekend should be much better..

Rick if you really want to see something neat thats throttle and shift by wire, drop into your local heavy truck dealer. Most heavy trucks have been throttle by wire for close to 10 years now, but you can also get them with a fully automated manual transmission. No clutch pedal, no shifter just stomp on the gas and go. Computer automatically engages the clutch and modulates engine speed while shifting.
