JB Weld! Used for automotive repairs can be used on anything. When hardened it can be even drilled and tapped! There are two types of JB Weld one takes 24 hours to cure and then there is JB Kwick which is a fast setting epoxy. Its OK for non critical repairs. I prefer the regular JB Weld.

    Just replace the float bowl.

Get ahold of chacal (XJ4Ever) or put a post in "Sell, Trade, Swap, Wanted" it's not worth trying to fix something that critical and so easily replaced.

How are you gonna set a float level with THAT (or expect it to accurately hold a level that was set using a different bowl?)

Plus, it's a Mikuni. And the enrichment passage is near enough to the scene of the disaster that I wouldn't.

On top of that, the stuff you scraped off appeared to be JBWeld.

Seriously, replacement float bowls for the BS28s aren't hard to find, honest.

If you have trouble finding a replacement float bowl and/or think you might need to repair aluminum and various other metals in the future, I can definitely recommend Muggy Weld. I bought some of their Super Alloy 1 to repair an A/C evaporator where I needed to solder copper to aluminum. It worked like a charm on that, and I've since used it for a number of other repairs, including cast aluminum parts. It's pretty strong solder that melts at pretty low temperature (about 350F).
