Hey, Im looking on doing a road trip from near Thunder Bay, ON to BC next summer. If you have made this trip and found some cool spots or nice roads, lets hear about them. Pictures would be even better!

Hey fellow NWO rider! I'm originally from Thunder Bay.
Going west like that, the cool spots are where you find them - the road certainly ISN'T it. I've ridden to Kenora & back (to Tbay) a few times, and even that ride is pretty boring now I've heard; since they've completed the by-passes.
Check out this site for roadside attractions in Canada - see if there's anything that strikes your fancy:

I just got back from BC after riding my XJ out there all summer. I'll be putting up a ride report shortly but just off the top of my head the Duffy Lake Road between Lillooet and Pemberton is a must!

Yammadof - Ive never actually had my bike on the road. I picked it up last month and im gonna fix it up over the winter and get my license in the spring. Im still a complete noob.

Atlus - You must have passed by the sign on Thunder Bay side of Dryden that said "Sioux Lookout" then!

XJPilot - I think we are planning on going all the way to Vancouver so that might be a nice little pit stop along the way.

Well - I'd first recommend http://www.beltdrivebetty.com/ website (and book if you can find it) - it's got a great listing of Biker-friendly businesses all across western Canada - and she's trying to do the same down east, as well. It also lists a load of people (and the areas they are in) who you can call if you need any kind of help on your trip. She usually shows up at most of the bike shows across Canada. DEFINITELY worth getting a membership!

Out west here - Saskatchewan is about what you'd expect - flat - arrow straight roads and LOTS of grain fields with not much to break it up. If you take the south route (Trans-Canada) you might want to check out the Cypress Hills on the AB/SK border - Cool area if you're interested in history and the RCMP story. Then you can get to Lethbridge and Fort Whoop-Up. Up to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, and on to Calgary (the Stampede is July 6-15th - Book your hotel NOW if you want to be here then).

West of Calgary is the old #1 highway - by far the most fun - the new one is pretty boring. Banff and the route on through the mountains is a BLAST, and there's SO much to see that there's be no way to list it all.

There's also the southern route - Highway 3 through Crowsnest Past - on par or maybe better than the Trans-Canada because it's not as commercial and touristy, but there are some very cool sights to see - Frank Slide, and the area around Coleman, but also Southern BC is great too. There's even a couple campgrounds strictly for bikers - http://www.toadrockcampground.com/ (Nelson BC) is probably the best known. If you can get up to Nakusp - Check out the Hot Springs (REALLY nice after a long day on the road). They're off the beaten path, but worth it - since they haven't gone as commercial as some of the better known ones.

If you grab the Sept/Oct 2011 Cycle Canada magazine - they have a great article in there about a trip east from Vancouver by bike.....

Oh yeah - watch out for the deer, and Mountain goats, and BigHorn sheep, and grizzlys, .......

Damn - it would be fun to go with you ....
