I have some clear signal lenses and I want to put them on, so I need to change my bulbs to amber, what bulbs do I need for the front and rear? and as simple as it seems..... How exactly do I change the bulbs? Do I just pull them out?

The bulb is removed by pushing in slightly, and turning counterclockwise at the same time. When you feel it stop turning it can be pulled straight out.

If the bulb is two element/three wire (front) you will need to get an 1157A bulb to replace it. A single element/two wire (rear) will use 1156A bulbs.

Just take the bulb to the parts store and tell them you want that bulb in amber.

Thanks! Those bulbs worked perfectly, I have all but one replaced because one of the lens screws are stripped at the head, I guess I now have a reason to buy another tool.....

Lenses are cheap and you are replacing them anyways. Just use a pair of diagnal cutters and cut the lens away from the screw. Then use a pair of pliers to remove it.

That is an idea, but I would like to try and save it so if I want to go back to amber lenses I don't have to buy a new one.

Then you need a set of these; http://www.searsoutlet.com/4-pc-Drill-O ... uyUsedOnly

They come anywhere from a 3-piece set to a 16-piece set. Both the drill end and the "extractor" end are "reversed" in that they work using a drill running backwards. I've used them on master cylinder cover screws and quite often the "reverse drill" gets the screw out without ever having to flip it around to use the extractor end.

These folks: http://www.kandstech.com/index.php?page=Turnsignal make "pattern" (reproduction) replacement run signals for Japanese bikes, including "clear conversion kits."

It takes some poking about on their site to come up with the right parts, because they don't offer you a cross-reference, you have to know what you're looking at. Thankfully, Yamaha turn signals aren't that widely varied, so it's not too difficult.

Once you've got a part number or know what you're after, check with chacal or get a Googlin'.

Sorry, It took me a little to get back to you, for some reason I do not receive notification that someone replied to my topic?

The model number I have for my XJ700 is 42x-83312-00-00 at least that is what it was a year ago when I purchased them. :?

I could not find anything that specifically mentioned my bike so I had to do some research, I found that the amber lenses for my bike had the same part number for the amber lenses for the Yamaha Virago 250, 535, 750 and 1100 and luckily in my search for clear lenses I found a part number for the Virago lenses, and with my decisiveness ( ) I concluded that they would work.

So I bought them, and almost a year later, I finally put them on!

For something so simple as changing the lenses to clear, it makes the whole bike look different! and a little more "custom".
