    Hi all.

Ok, here's my issue. Got a '82 xj1100 maxim and for some reason cylinder 2 aint firing. got spark and compression, and I think I narrowed it down to a fuel flow issue. any suggestions?

Remove the #2 Manifold Vacuum Nipple Plug.
Install a length of Rubber Hose.
Plug the Hose with a Golf Tee.

    Start the Bike.
    Check for Spark on #2
If you have Spark, remove the Tee and dribble some Gas into the Hose.
IF, ... The Hole fires: You have a Carb related problem.

You'll have to Clean the Carbs paying attention to #2's Jets and Passages.

A thorough Carb Cleaning and Tuning is a Maintenance Issue that needs to be done in order to have the Bike run like its supposed too.
The more time and energy you put into a perfectly Cleaned and Tuned set of Carbs; the better that Bike will run.

Put the valves in spec first or you'll never get the carbs adjusted correctly.

Ok, new issue. She wont crank. had some problems the last 2 weeks where it would, then I'd hit a bump or move it and it would go again. Got a good battery, I think. cranked day before yesterday.

    Help! Car is killin me!

It can be any one of a great number of things.

    IF battery is Charged.
    Fuse Panel replaced.
Solenoid "Clicking", ... but Starter failing to spin.

Short the Solenoid Heavy Duty Terminals and see if the Starter spins.
    Yes.
Troubleshoot Wiring and Ign. related Switches and Relays.

    No.
    Check the Starter's Electrical end.
    a) Carbon Dust shorting-out, ... grounding fault.
    b) Brushes need replacing.
    c) Commutator damaged and pitted.

Refinish the Commutator with 800 or Higher Grit Sandpaper cut to the width of the Commutator and use a shoe-shine motion.
    Thoroughly clean after sanding.

Dust can be flushed out with Electric Cleaning Spays
    Isopropal Alcohol.

Brushes need to be Un-soldered and New Brushes - Soldered.
