Hi, I just tried to bypass my battery sensor on my XJ750 maxim. I used a 1/2 watt 4.7 resitor. I connected it to the white wire with red strip and the other end to one of the fuses (10 amp) The blinking light did not go out. Should I use a 1/2 watt 2.2 resistor ? Also, where do I access my meter lights ? (dashbourd) I know they are 3.4 watt and can I buy them at a auto parts store. Thanks for any info.

I solved my battery indicator light an even easier way. I went to Radio Shack, bought a cheap 12v to 6v power source, cut the ends off it and wired it into the rear tail light power wire for 12v and negative, then ran the 6v wire to the old battery sensor wire. If my battery starts getting weak, there should be enough drop in voltage at the 6v end to set the warning light off.

That sounds good. Now what the heck is a 12v to 6v power source ? And just what will I be cutting off ? Thanks for the info

Just go to Radio Shack, Walmart, Futureshop and ask for a 12v to 6v converter so you can play a 6 v cd player, mp3 player, etc.in your car. Most of them will have the cigarette plug in. If you get one of really fancy ones, it will convert 12v to 3v, 6v, and 9 v. Should cost you around $12. You will cut off the cigarette plug and wire it direct to a 12v source that is only live when the ignition is turned on - ie the tail light. Then the other end will have the plug in for the supposed cd, mp3 or 'whatever' , so you cut that end off as well. Since the unit is already supplyed power (12v) and ground from your tail light, all you have to do is connect the 6v power to your battery sensor wire. That's it.

you can put that battery sensor wire right to the fuse block, no resistor
    necessary

You could just make it easy on yourself -- Chacal sells a pre-made kit that comes with everything you need. Connects from the sensor plug on the wiring harness to either the positive terminal of the battery or the starter relay.

This file will show you how to break down the 750J instrument cluster. In short, you'll have to unbolt the thing from the handlebars, remove the rear cover, and undo the metal mounting bracket(s).

Links are fixed. A complete list of the files can be found here. The 4shared links aren't working right now, but the FileDen links should still be good.
