Thanks Mercman. Yea i have the crabs off and sitting on my bench right now. Just trying to figure out if i should go for a rebuild or good clean. cause the bike ran great just didnt idle for junk. I would always have to bump the gas a little if i was at a stop light.

Sweet you already did the second hardest part of working on your carbs-getting them off, back on is number 1.

A full rebuild and cleaning are almost the same thing. Most critical is the clean part - no debris, no varnish, no clogs allowed. If your internals are damaged you will need to replace them. The pilot circuit is tiny and will easily get gummed or worse. When I did mine there were tiny little pieces of what looked like rubber or plastic blocking two of them - I had two cold cylinders as a result. I suspect it was related to a K&N filter from the PO that didn't fit flush in the airbox and let some crap in-especially since it was #1 & #2 which are on the side of the opening.

Sounds like your on top of things and will have it right in no-time.

There is your problem. Those poor little crabbies are freezing their little claws off!! The lake was frozen last week when I was up there.
It must be in the air. My computer is having the same problem tonight.

But seriously. Your only one step in difference between a full cleaning, and a full rebuild. The shaft seals are known to be a problem on seriously neglected bikes. You might as well save yourself the time and hassle, and take care of them while you have them off the bike. Otherwise you will be trying to chase down another mysterious erratic idle issue, and have to pull them off the bike again to finally do the shaft seals.

While you are at it. Replace those rubber caps that block off the vacum ports on the intake boots. Another source of mysterious vacum leaks. They are known to shrink slightly with age, and are a royal PITA to track down.

Take the easy way, and do it all right the first time.

    Ghost

Oh then my truck broke 2 bolts in the head also this has been a bad week. Really hoping i can get the bolt out and then track down a new one. DARN IT.

Hey Airdale-I'm up near Pine City. Im far from an expert mechanic but I've never had to take my Seca to another mechanic for anything in over 20 years & it still runs great. As usual, its really hard to find extra time but I'd be willing to ride down to F.L. & maybe give you a hand sometime, or maybe go for a ride. I also got a few spare parts layin around. P.M. me if you wanna. Good luck.
