I have the cams, cam sprockets, valves, valve parts-springs-keepers-shims-etc. and the pistons with rings and pin etc. complete.

I have a few other parts at 80% like the clutch cover and clutch actuation arm side covers etc. but until I get to working on
the main upper and lower case castings the covers will remain partially complete, doing this helps keep all the casting modeling homogenous .

I have the clutch internals removed from the project motor so that will be the next set of parts to undergo modeling.

As usual comments or corrections if you see something incorrect are appreciated.

I dunno man, those valve clearances look awfully tight to me. (It also looks like the pistons are a bit too friendly with the valves.)

Seriously though; good work. The roughness of the casting on the sprocket flanges and un-machined portions of the camshaft is remarkable.

I must have missed the previous "edition", is this an actual model kit you are building or a BIM type software model?

Either way- the differences in testures of even the minor details are amazing.

    Hey FlyGP,
Great work. I forget... what CAD software do you use? Solidworks?

I'm a CAD designer for a living also (as I assume you are), and have used Unigraphics (now called NX) for almost 23 years. If you have any single parts or sub-assemblies you'd like me to take a crack at, I'd be happy to contribute however I can. PM me if you'd rather touch base that way.

Keep up the good work. This will definitely be a great resource when it's complete.

I noticed on one of your videos you had modeled the forks. Me, being new to bikes, don't necessarily understand how the forks/shocks work or how they go together.

In the video all it shows is a cutaway. Do you have a way to show them being disassembled?

There's a little bit of potential in these models. It would be awesome to have a completely interactive model, so you can see what your dealing with before you do it, especially with notes on it. Would be an awesome version of a service manual.

The forks I have modeled are from a XJ650J just the basic fork no anti dive. This fork is not the same as the one used on the 550RJ Seca.

If you think it would help we can do a WebEx meeting (if you have a fast internet connection) and I can show you the model of the 650 fork.

I haven’t set up a Webex in some time but I am willing to try if you are. We will need to chat by PM so I can get your E-mail address and phone number to set up the meeting.

Tried telling a friend what i was doing with the valve clearances and he could not understand. I came home for lunch and seen this post and printed out the pic. to show him. Now he gets it. Very nice job.
