I bought a 1982 XJ750 Seca last weekend for $350 in Baltimore. It ran when I bought it (not well, two of the carbs were running rich and fouling up the #3 and #4 spark plugs). Either way, this is only my second bike, and I've never really worked on a bike before so I'm using this as a learning experience.

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'll get some pictures of the bike up soon. She definitely wasn't the best cared for bike in the city, but I'm eager to see what I can make of her.

    Welcome to the site!

First thing you need to do is check for delamination of the rear brakes.

Then get a manual and go through the entire maintenance section.

You will also want to check the date codes on your tires and replace the brake lines if they are the originals.

Ask here if you have any questions.

Also, put your location in your profile and your bike info in your signature, that way we won't have to ask what bike you have, mileage, etc.

    welcome!

post up some pictures if you can!

Below is a link to a thread with some superb information; It's the thread that i posted when i bought my bike and joined. Sure, they are different bikes, but most things are the same in regards to resurrecting a 30 year old + bike.

have fun and stick around, you'll learn alot!

    Hey Lil,

    WTTC!!
Doesn't matter what you ride, but that you ride.....

I'm a few miles outside the beltway off of Rt 100 so not too far away. PM me if you need a free manual and I'll hook you up. There's a couple other members in or near Balt too.
