Petcock Vacuum line goes to which manifold?

    The PO had the petcock vacuum line going to Manifold #1. Is that right? Does it matter which one it goes to?

    Something about it on the #1 just looks odd. Maybe it's just me.

    On the 550s, it goes on #2. On the bigger bikes it's generally found on #3.

    It shouldn't really matter.

    Thanks Fitz. I guess next time I have the carbs off I'll switch it to #2. I only noticed it when I went to hook it up to the petcock. Seemed a bit harder to route than it did years ago. Makes me think the PO had the manifolds off. Wonder what else he screwed up. If he followed his same procedures, theres probably silicone cauk there...

    You'll have to pop the little vacuum port caps off to do your running vacuum sync anyway, just reinstall it in the correct spot then.

    If you need to replace the line, chacal has small-diameter genuine vacuum line; most vacuum line from the auto parts is a bit "chunky." You need to use vacuum line as a regular air line may cave in on itself once hot and vacuum is applied.
