Hey guys thought it would be a good idea to get a guide kinda thing online for this. Found out I had to do it 5-6 weeks back and I was dreading it. Got back from college Thursday night (first year done :D) and I attacked it yesterday. From all the rumors I thought it was gonna be a head scratcher with a lot of yelling and screaming and disappointment. However I was able to get it done relatively easy, and as someone said, once it was out of the frame it was simply a matter of, which screws do I undo to split this baby. I've got lots of pictures and I plan on making an album on here about it but until then, I was just wondering if you guys have an recommendations for me to do to to the bike while I have it opened up? I plan on going through the carbs (again) and getting everything tuned right and really clean the engine to make it nice and pretty and functioning. :)

I should have the pictures up within 2-3 hours

Just got the pictures uploaded, just need to wait for approval and I will get them up

You are using a manual, correct? There are some critical details involved with reassembly that you won't know about without a book...

Be sure to replace the starter chain guide, they DO rot out and cause misery when they do. All new o-rings and a tube of Permatex MotoSeal® 1 Ultimate Gasket Maker Grey ( http://www.permatex.com/products/motorc ... r_Grey.htm ).
I'll also recommend you replace all of your carb studs (and maybe the exhaust as well) with better grade studs, you'll be glad you did.

Yes I have the manual to get the engine all back together. The starter chain guide is what I am replacing. Unless I named the part wrong in which case I feel a bit silly. My guide blew up already and I need to get it out of my engine and replace the stupid thing.

I can't seem to figure out a way to get the pictures on from my gallery, so if you want to check them out just head over to my gallery and take a peek. :)

How much trouble did the sealant between the engine layers give you? I've been whacking on with a rubber mallet for 2 days, and still no splitting...
