    I have an 82 XJ650 and before the winter it ran ok, not flawless, but I could start it up and go.

    I played with it for awhile over the winter but it has been sitting for a minute. Now when I try to start it up it sounds like its flooded. I definitely need to get the carbs redone, but I need to get it running to get to the shop, cause I dont have the time to clean them myself before official riding season. I talked to the guy I want to fix my bike and he said it seems like the fuel has 'gelled'.

    So my question is whats the best way to clean out the old fluid gas and oil, as I plan to do as well a tune up as i can before i take it to the shop and have them clean my carbs and rejet my whole situation.

    Remove the Tank.
    Add solvent.
    Swish and dissolve matter in Tank.

    Use "Siphon Pump" ... or ... "Transfer Pump" evacuate Tank.

    Repeat.
    Continue until what comes out is as clean as what you put in.

    ::: Tip :::

    Cover the open top of a 5-Gallon pail with a folded towel.
    Set the Tank in the Pail -- Wide-end first -- while pumping-out Tank.
    Have assistant hold Tank to prevent accidentally topping-over Tank while you are pumping-out the old gas.

    RickComatic, is there a solvent you prefer for the tank?

    I just use fresh gas.

    You can use:
    SeaFoam
    Isopropyl Alcohol

    But it starts getting pricy.
    (Even Gas is going to be 4-Bucks a Gal.)
