    Before you start cutting and bobbing your bike it would suggest to get it running first. Go through everything and get it right . That way you will know everything works. Go through the carbs, adjust valves , brakes and electrical stuff. That way you will know if anything needs to be replaced or repaired.
    You probably won't find and plans since most bobbers are a costom project. Look for ideas from other members and use the ones you like.

    What would be the most common problem for not starting?
    Ive replaced the battery,spark plugs and fuses.
    Dont know if I should troubleshoot some wires or directly replace relays and coils.

    For a bike that has been sitting the most common problem is dirty and gummed fuel ststem. The tank and carbs have old fuel that has turned to varnish and plugged everything up. They will have to be taken apart and cleaned.
    Don't start replacing parts just because you think it might be bad, that can get expensive and frustrating. Get a manual and start reading through the trouble shooting section. Test parts before condeming them.

    Cuz I know that some cleaners can leave an oily residue.

    My favorite carb cleaner is Berryman Chem Dip. Most autoparts stores have it. It comes in a 1 gal can with a handy basket for dipping. It will eat any rubber so a complete carb dissambly is needed. Spray type carb cleaner is al the same to me, it also eats rubber so be carefull with throttle shaft seals and carb slide diaphrams. I always give carb parts a final spray down with brake cleaner it does not leave any residue.

    I just did the pine sol trick. Worked great to remove the years of grease and gunk externally, I question its ability to really clean the internal passages.

    The Berryman Chem Dip works great, that's what I use. Just remember to remove ALL of the rubber o-rings and such because it will eat the rubber.

    If you're just trying 'start' it, do you mean it's not even turning over, or it turns over but doesn't fire up?

    Doesn't fire up........could be coils, tci, wires, relays, switches......anything electrical. If you KNOW you have spark and it's not firing up, then you know it's fuel-related. Either way, you have a lot of work ahead of you.

    If it doesn't even turn over, then you have to check your ignition switch, your right hand control...... in there is a little button w/ contact, gotta make sure that's all clean. There's a three-way switch on top---- OFF, RUN, OFF gotta make sure that's clean, and on RUN to work. You may need to pull the headlight out and check all the connections in there. Again, you have lots of work to do.

    Can you please write back and give us more in-depth, picky, details of exactly what you have tried to do?

    Top of your list items -

    * Compression test
    * Valve lash check
    * Carbs "gone to Church"
    * Brake inspection and re-do
    * Tire Date Code check

    All done before cutting the frame - oh yeah, and process the title, too.

    There's some killer chops on this site !
