Anyone running them? How does your electrical system hold up? I have a 1981 Seca 750 in great shape and want to add some "comfort items" to extend the riding season a little bit. I go to work at 5:00 in the morning and it's always a little chilly here in Northwest Washington, even in August.
    Thanks
    Scotty

Yeah mate. Me and the mrs have got a heated waistcoat each and some heated socks each.
The waistcoats have got a switch for high/med/low heat and we wear them as close to the skin and have them set on the low and they are great.
The socks have no temperature control and i find that they get too hot for me, the mrs is fine she says.
I always keep a well charged battery and have noticed no ill effects on the electrical system when using the clothing, but i use them on an FJ based XJR and an XS1100 and the alternators cope well but they are big, and can't comment on a smaller bike.

I run grip heaters on both bikes and really like'm. I use the ones that go under the grips, used for snomobiles. They work awsome and get plenty warm. Not to worry about the charging system, it will keep up if it's working right. I use a voltmeter to keep track of the battery to see if it charging right when using all the electrical accessories and so far, it does just fine. I had stereo amplifier, heated grips, and two 55w halogen driving lights and the charging system kept up. I did not use my driving lights when I used the heated grips however so the charging system would not get over worked.

I run heated grips on my '82 XJ1100J and I use them very often in the non-summer months...which as you know is most of the year in the Pacific NW...
    No problems so far.

I picked up a pair of Firstgear gloves. Awesome set, nice and warm and the heat controller hides under the seat. It gives me a control knob that I mounted on the MC, and the gloves don't put too much load on the bike. I can run them at full power with my gps plugged in and still charge the battery ok.
