Would you buy NOS fork seals?

    My new to me 1992 Seca is in dire need of fork seals, and I know that I need OEM fork seals, none of that aftermarket stuff ever seems to work. There is a set of NOS fork seals on ebay that I want (package says it was shipped in 2008), but I'm worried the rubber will be aged/deteriorated. Then again, if I go to my local dealer and order some, won't those be NOS, as well?

    NOS is great for appearance items such as tank badges or hard parts like shifter levers but for maintenance items like fork seals I don't know if I would trust it either...
    Sidenote, when I hear NOS, I'm usually thinking older than 2008.

    '08 is fine.

    NOS to me also means "30 years old." My answer was going to be a simple "no."

    For fork seals, four years on the shelf is no big deal especially if kept properly packaged.

    I wouldn't be as concerned about NOS parts for a 92 as I would be for an 82, but that's just me..........

    Thanks for all the advice guys! Sounds like I shouldn't have any trouble with them. I just bought the NOS oil seals and dust seals for $47, that probably would have been about $70-80 at my local dealer, gotta love eBay!

    Does anyone have any tips for installation that will help ensure they don't leak? I know on my first set of seals, I didn't put electrical tape on the top of the fork tube, which scarred my new seal, and it leaked of course..... so I learned that the hard way.

    Should there be any grease applied anywhere during the install?
