A while ago I ran across a thread by someone who did a beautiful job cleaning up and repainting their master cylinder cover. There were toothpicks involved and such, if I remember correctly.

Can someone point me to the thread (my searching has not found it)?

Also, the PO of my bike really hated Yamaha, and filled in every place which identifies the bike as a Yamaha with thick layers of bondo.

Anyone have good ideas on really good ways to get the bondo out of the tiny crevices (lettering on the master cylinder cover, etc.)?

    Thanks!

You may have seen my restoration post.

Not sure which page it's on.

As for getting bondo out of the lettering:
You will need a pick or awl of some sort. Looks basically like an ice pick.
A lightweight hammer. Around 10 oz. head.
A good vice. Make sure you put something around the edges to keep them from getting gouged up.
    A LOT of patience.

You will have to basically hammer-n-chisel the lettering out. It will be a long, slow process. Don't get too overzealous or you'll put a gouge in the face that you won't be able to polish out.

Would be easier to just buy a new MC cover. You should be able to find one for a decent price.

    Then recondition the new one.

    Yeah, that's the thread, thanks.

I'll try both the stripper and some dental picks I picked up.
