which way does the driveshaft spin?

    hey guys.... google does nothing for me, so i should have come here first.... im builden a big boy toy gokart. i got a spare maxim motor that i wont work on my maxim... so im putting it on my gokart frame.... silly i know, but im a maxim fanatic!!! so heres the QUESTION...... on the fly thats off the transmission (where the 4 bolt holes are for the driveshaft to bolt onto the transmission..... if you were standing at the "back of the bike" would that piece turn clockwise or counter clockwise? thanks in advance. eric

    Have you tried to put the transmission into first gear, pull the dust cover off of the pickup coils and turn the engine by wrench? Remember the crankshaft rotates counterclockwise, if you do that you will know for certain which direction the driveshaft would rotate.

    lol i could try that..... ive been too busy.... i actually almost mounted the motor until it dawned on me that i could potentially do 85 in reverse..... :/ just trying to pass time until i can get the gaskets for my 80. if anyone else knows for sure..... id gladly take the answer.... im just not sure ill have time any time soon. thanks for the tip... ill try and check if i get a chance

    Yes that one is pretty simple to figure out, the shaft is to the left of the ring gear from behind, has to be clockwise as stated above.
