Just a thought but I think it would be nice to have a section for us UK XJ'ers . Mainly for get-togethers ride outs and parts swaps or usefull knowledge on bits over here as the postage is soo dear from America :( .

mainly because this site has lots of good info for a completely standard bike which is great but when things are done differently people get shot down and everything has to be done a certain way or not at all.it seems everything needs to be bought from the forum shop which is understandable for you guys but postage to the UK is expensive . When I needed throttle shaft seals quickly , considering nearly every member on here must have bought some , Not one member could give me dimensions or ideas on anywhere to get them from in Europe . It was a UK forum that told me the exact dimensions and gave a me a part number as it turns out they have been used on other manufactureres bikes and are widely available . all in all the ive only got usefull advice from two or three members on here .

Hi Rastacia .. glad we drive on th correct side of the road .. and i know what you mean about parts and prices depending on your location in th global economy with bugger all of it originating where you paid for it. So many parts fit so many 'things'.

So what is th 'throttle shaft seal' sometimes called a 'grease seal' info that you found.

Rastica, We could just post in xj chat and include UK in title description or request info.

The info posted is in general, applicable for all our machines.

advice from anywhere is grateful and knowledge shared can be used globally.

Post is expensive from US but not as much as import tax and duties!

And minimising our maintenance costs benefits all UK XJ bikers

I say give the british their own section, then make them all join it and don't let them in to 'normal' section. I get tired of having to look up what 'spanners, boots, inches and feet are ( oh wait, that won't work, American's use inches and feet too) Dammit - I thought I was on to something good. :D

Hey, how about asking for a section for each country where people live unless you think the UK is more special than us in the colonies lol

Is the shifter on the right side or the left side on a UK cycle ? If it's on the right side there ya go. Not the same bike or parts.

    Yeah.....why should I have to press 1 for Engli...........oh, wait......wrong soapbox.

I personally would prefer that the posts stay in the general areas, there are plenty of parts over there that we buy and have sent over here. So No, you may not. I'd feel compelled to ask for a special New York section then.

Maxim-X-- Now that's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! I had to wipe the tears from my eyes.

Seemed like the right time to lighten things up. The UK mob won't be getting there own section and all the criminals that were deported to OZ all those years back won't get on either.
So to all the UK mob, "Stiff upper lip and all that , Wot"!

Unfortunately, that's why we don't have a separate UK Section.

If we had a separate UK Section;; others would want their own section, too.
    Texas.
    New York.
    Australia.
    California.
Hollywood. Then, there would be fighting about who can be in Hollywood.
Red Necks. Some would be happy there. Other not.

The Bottom Line is, ... we wouldn't be able to please everyone no matter how hard we tried.
    This happens, already ... though.
Just pretend you have the power to assign yourself or others (as needed) to the Group or Section that you consider is the best fit.
Just be sure to keep in your imagination.
    Where it belongs.
    Good or Evil.
    Assigned a Military-type Rank.
    Graded: A, B, C, D and D- (No F's. Just being able to Login is worth a D-)
    Valuable Resource.
    Malfeasant.

My neighbors think I'm a Redneck!

Especially when somebody comes-by to wrench on a Bike in the driveway.

Does not go with the decor' of the neighborhood.

Well maybe the real reason (and not the portrayed) reason is that when you guys gave US the chance to 'have our own section' across the pond, we ran with it and started our entire own society. Call us old-fashioned, but maybe we just aren't ready for a reverse-revolution on the XJ site?

Your request seems reasonable....but it looks like you are destined to be relegated to the "other" section within the forum....what does the site owner (snosheriff) have to say?

I'm a newbie here so I know it's cheeky to be sticking my oar in but I would like to see a UK section too principly so that it is easier to look for parts.

I have had my bike for three months and have really struggled to find the bits I need.

My wife won't let me ship the family and bike over to the US in search of parts so I need to petition you guys instead ;)

Why not start a posting in "OTHER" and title it "UK MOB", "UK MOB for sale", "UK MOB help", etc.
It won't come up as an independant section per se' but any UK member can search for UK MOB and it should take you there.
Also, once you have posted something then you will be able to go back to it and get email notifications.
Just a thought, don't know if admin would object as it is in the "OTHER" category anyway.

OK guys - enough. I think it would be a good idea to have a UK (and other countries) member's "Sticky" in the General Lounge section where people could post region-specific items such as bikes/parts for sale and to arrange meets or ride-outs, maybe an annual get together. As long as it was only used for region-specific events etc then it may work. All other communication could (and should) be kept within the General Forum where we all communicate so well on an International level. Although most of you say Tomayto, whilst I say Tomahto...
