I just took my headlight out and there is a green two wire plug with black & black/yellow wire. The wires are looped together?? What is this plug?

Its for your clutch switch which is a safety feature that requires you to pull in the clutch to start the bike.

When it's IN GEAR (and as long as the sidestand is up.)

Clutch switch 411: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=30354.html the switch itself mounts in the clutch lever perch.

Just unplug it instead of grounding it together. It doesnt need to be that way and its a touch safer. You just can only start it in neutral. With it ground together you can start it any time.

    It's a catch 22.

If you have it jumpered like it is, then you can start the bike in gear with the clutch out, as long as the sidestand is up (if the sidestand switch is working).

If you unplug it, you can only start it in neutral, which can be a pain if you stall at a stop light.

    BEST SOLUTION:

Spend $15 on a new switch.
