Technical question, steering stems and bearings

    So I have been doing some research for my possible front end swap. Here is the data I have and I'm hoping some of you wizards can better help me understand.

    Does the XJ steering stem taper? I have the upper bearings at 25x48x15.2 and the lower at 30x48x15 (IDxODxWidth)

    The front end I have been looking at locally ends up at 30x48 both top and bottom.

    Is this going to slide in for a complete swap?
    I can't really grasp exactly the dimensions.

    What front end is it that you want to swap to?

    I am wondering as I am planning to do a front end swap after this season myself.

    It is a nearly complete front end off a 2006 R1

    Take the dimensions to the bearing store & see if they can match them up.

    But I would need a 25x48 top bearing to go into the new forks? the 30 would have play in it correct? I'm just trying to conceptualize this.
