On the 1981 Seca 750, there seems to be a common "missing part" on the center handle bar cover. That's right you guessed it the rectangular emblem that covers the mounting screws!!

So the question here lies..... What have all of you done to "complete" this area of the bike?

I thinnk I've begun to find the solution, or at least for mine. At work we have a "3D Printer". I took the general dimensions of this void and printed myself out an abs plastic part. For the initial part I've kept it simple by just being a flat part, but if it seems to fit okay (after a test drive-when the bikes back together) I'm going to embelish it a little with text.

Second question... What text did this emblem have on it? I'm assuming "Yamaha", but I'm unsure.

I'll try get pics posted of my creation soon!

Are you referring to the cover on the front, under the headlight, between the forks?

(edit: Ok, I was wrong, no sense in looking like an idiot.)

^-- thats what it looks like...

I think I still have one out in the shop if you want it. I have no need for it anymore. Let me know. I could just mail it to you in an envelope. (your referring to the little plastic "YAMAHA" emblem that covers the two little screws in that rubber handlebar cover, right?) >PD<

    PainterD, you would be correct!

Just wondering how others have dressed up this area of the bike....

I have a similar problem. I assumed that a new part could/would be ordered in due time (about the time it annoyed me enough). A custom application sticker would be a nice thought. Looking forward to your pictures Chared.

I too was missing this part and could not find one anywhere.

I simply went off to my computer and designed one that my laser could cut out.
I made mine out of gold acrylic mirror and laser etched it from the back so that it is smooth on the top but the words YAMAHA seca 750 show through it.

It simply snaps in place. I have not lost it yet after many thousands of miles.

If any one wants one, I already have the drawings done up. I guess I could cut them in different colors if needed.
I dont really want anything for them, but it would be nice to have the postage covered.
Let me know what you think.

    Peter.

    Welasercut,
You should be taking orders making all types of emblems for bikes. I may have some ideas for you if you are willing to do some custom labels for me.

    Hello all.
I would be happy to make parts or emblems for people that want them, but I did not feel that this forum was the place to do that. I am not here to advertise or peddle my wares, I am simply a fellow XJ owner who loves his bike.

I think it is up to the owners and moderators of the XJ board to decide what is appropriate. After all, they bring us this board to use at their expense.

If they don’t have a problem with it, then I am willing to help out where I can.
I make my money on corporate jobs, not little custom ones, so that should make the decision easier.

    Peter.
