A work colleague has a GS500 to commute 25 miles on. He is a bit of a "Stiff" with all the correct waterproof gear and high visibility clothing plus he has all his servicing done at the stealers.

He was late on Tuesday, because he filled up with diesel instead of petrol. In The UK petrol has green hoses and nozzles and diesel black, at the service station.

I foolishly said "Oh, did you turn the tank upside down and empty it out?"
"No, he replied, I hadnt started it so I pushed it 4 miles home and phoned the stealer"

He was hoping to get it back today - probably with a bill for over £100!!!

I was at a gas station and saw a guy pump 14 gallons of diesel into a Dodge van - early '80's V8. He drove it home about 2 miles !! popping, back-firing, smoking, but it drove !

The filler must have been "punched" to allow the old leaded regular into an emissions vehicle thus allowing the mistake.

I remember seeing a show on TV (World's Worst Drivers?) where someone in England had done that. Huge cloud of smoke, guy gets pulled over.

"I've just put in diesel by accident."

It was a bit funny especially as the owner is so straight laced!

Here is a true story but I don't yet know the ending.

I was recently on a training couse which covers explosive atmospheres and the lecturer is also an "Expert witness" used to prosecute companies who break safety laws.

He told us of an incident where a vehicle owner put petrol in a diesel vehicle and realising his mistake, pushed his vehicle over to the car-vac and tried to suck it out. Yes, there was an explosion and it was about to go to court so I don't actually know who got prosecuted! I am sure the owner died - hence the prosecution.

How sad is it that they guy couldn't even take off his own gas tank to drain it. (Or find the fuel hose).

I can't even image how much the STEALER will rip him off for draining the tank, rebuilding the engine and transmission and adding blinker fluid and horn juice - synthetic that is!! LOL

    Hey - since we know a 50-50 Diesel-gas blend will run . . . what if -

You buy some 87 Octane cheap gas, and to RAISE it's anti-detonation quality (octane rating) AND slightly increase it's thermal density, you blend in 5-10% Diesel?? (or Kerosene??)

You know they blend a small amount of Butane into gas?? It boils (by itself) at -1*F and there's NO WAY it stays put in fuel cans in Florida.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST smells I can think of on this planet:

1.) Diesel, either exhaust or unburned.
    2.) Fresh cut hay (Alfalfa)

Not everywhere. We have yellow, green, red, black and it's all regular road diesel. The nozzle is a different size than gas though.

    Agreed.
