On my '82 XJ650 Seca Turbo carbs, the "hat" is broken off one of the starter plungers. Checking Bike Bandit, the part is discontinued. This part is common to the '83 LK Seca Turbo and the '83 XS650L.

Before I try the wreckers, does anyone have one of these they'd be willing to throw in the mail for a few bucks?

I pillaged one of Alive's photos to show you. I don't have a pic myself. Alive - I hope this is okay to do.

Just checked the one set of carbs that I could find. The plunger is not the same. On mine there is a groove on the largest dia. I was going to take a picture of it but the batteries in camera are dead. I will take a pic later tonight and post it after my batteries are charged up.

That looks like a Mikuni Enrichment Valve ... right?

Is there a neoprene seat in the end of the barrel at the top of the pin?

Does it measure 60 cm long -- 10 cm O.D. on the barrel?

I forgot to grab that pic. The seat is brass along with the rest of the body but it does have a rubber dust cover above the hex that apparently just doesn't come off. I'm not certain if it's Mikuni or Hitachi.

I'll see if I can get that pic up tomorrow.

Okay here it is. The barrel OD is 8mm. Check out the pic - obviously the "hat" is missing but you can see where it should be in the pic above.

It is a Mikuni enrichment valve as Rickomatic described.

The one I have is different. It's out of a 900.

If you don't any response from the A-P-B ... I suppose, since it's solid brass, that you could Braze a length of rod on it, give it to a Machinist with one for him to copy ... and have that one fixed.

if you could drill a hole where the hat was tap it for a 4/40 or 6/32 screw locktite it in i think your down the road
but why not start it on 3 cylinders dont let it stop you from riding

This is for my Seca Turbo - which is in several thousand pieces right now so I'm not in a big hurry. I'm riding my reg. seca right now.

I wouldn't be able to get myself to do that.
That would violate the "Perfect Bike Karma" some of us need to be able to sleep nights.

The idea that there would be a Non-Factory made something-or-other on the bike would haunt the restoration-minded professional worse than sending an innocent man to the gallows.

My hands are shaking just thinking about it ...

or you could think of it as a one-off custom modification with the revolutionary
    new adjustable feature

There is always the wreckers. I'll try them before I try to have it made or frankenstein it with a screw.

I like Polock's idea. Cheap, not necessarily easy but definitely big points on the DITY scale. I'd be very impressed. If you have one that isn't broken, a trip to the local machinists should set you right.
