Ok, I'm just going to keep adding to this.

    So far, I found:

-Cracked headlight bucket - gonna leave it for now
-Broken fusebox and some goofy loose fuse - fixed
-Cut off driving light - working on it
    -non-working speedo - replaced
-Brake sensor wire cut and grounded - scratching my head over this one

Today I found a real doozie - no rear brakes.

Front brakes are there, but kinda iffy.

    Oh yeah.

-Cracked vacuum line to petcock -fixed
-side panels have screws in place of the broken snaps
    -Missing tank bolt

Find of the day - the nastiest brake fluid I have ever seen.

Also, bleed screws that wouldn't bleed because they had no holes. Holes rusted shut.

I got really sick of this brake bleeding thing. Tried to backflush it, don't think it worked. Got EVERYTHING around me covered in brake fluid. Finally hooked an electric vacuum pump and succeeded in making the brakes a little better. Ordered master cylinder and caliper kits. Should probably get hoses, too.

Figured out what that squeak was - the part where the cable attaches to the master cylinder. Rusty. Oiled it. Squeaks less.

Incidentally, NAPA carries bleed screws that fit the Seca calipers and anti-dives. Apparently, nobody else does, and the motorcycle dealer closed before I got there.

Completely accidentally found out there is a small motorcycle shop very near me. I had no idea. Also closed before I got there.

Figured out why the small light doesn't work. That hole in the right grip is supposed to have a switch.

Back from vacation. Didn't actually do anything to the Seca, but took a look at it.

Apparently, the carb bowl drain screws are facing each other. I didn't know you could assemble the carbs that way. Chalk up another thing in the "don't do this" file...

Found this on my Turbo seca too. There were even labelled with scratch marks in roman numerals, 1-4 going RIGHT TO LEFT. Made me pause and scratch my head when assembling (there were a couple of weeks in-between disassembly and reassembly and I forgot that I noticed it before).

One of mine came that way too. Throws IMMEDIATE suspicion on the accuracy of the float levels.

I'd say it throws immediate suspicion on just about everything on this bike... :D

Too bad I didn't know this stuff when buying it. I probably grossly overpaid. Still, I took a look at the Seca and had to have it...

Checked valve clearances the other day. Naturally, all are tighter than spec to various degree.

Didn't have a whole lot of luck with the valve tool, couldn't get a single shim out. I keep clamping it on the shim itself. Will try that again tonight, if I'm not too tired.

    Also, got a tank bolt.

Speaking of bolts, the oil filter bolt is rounded off. And the oil is low.

Got a centerstand spring and put the centerstand back on. With that nifty addition I did this:

    Rear brakes figured out

Aaaand... the discoveries just keep coming.

After clearancing the valves and putting in new shims I went to put the valve cover back on. I couldn't get this one bolt in, it kept sticking at a weird angle.

The hole for bolt is actually two holes. The only way I could get it in is to put it in first so that I could fiddle with it and get it into the right path. Seems to hold, though.
