Going to see this http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified- ... 0_16886427 Sunday.Bringing back "beat" bikes is what I like to do.I'm a bit of a Suzuki guy so these are my bikes http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/sh ... p?t=161477 my current rider and http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/sh ... p?t=176156 my current project.Know the FJ was called the XJ elsewhere so I'm hoping this is OK with you guys and girls.Guess it's moot if I don't bring it home  Any tips on what to look out for when I look at it would be appreciated.

Looks complete, hopefully an easy fix.
All the hard to find parts are at XJ4EVER, top right of this page.

Welcome GKBO. The FJ 600 is a direct descendant of the 550 series XJ's if I'm correct. This site will serve you well.

The rear shock is expensive, so make sure it's ok. If it isnt they are about £200 - don't know how many dollars that is!!

Also the rear suspension bushes are quite dear for what they are. (Plastic tubes) Get hold of the rear axle with the bike on the stand and try to raise the rear axle. Any play will show up. On my XJ600 the actual relay arms had started to rust so even with new bushes there was a little movement.

Like all XJs the electrics are not brilliant but the bike is basically straightforward to work on and has already been posted, is just a "larger" xj550.

Spares in Europe are plentiful as they were sold until 1992 - the States only had them for 2 years.

For an old bike they are quick although the skinny rear tyre is old skool.

    Buy it!!!

Cool info markie, will check that stuff for sure.Plastic bushings?Guess my 85GS750 has spoilt me,all needle bearings.
Know all about not brilliant electrics, ask any Suzi owner about stators  Used to skinny tire here to,old skool bike= old skool tires.I can go as fast as I need on them.

Nah, stick around. We like all bikes, and most members' knowledge covers more than just the XJ

Thank for the kind thoughts but I find it strange to be on a forum where I don't have that kind of bike.FJ was sold and things have taken a dirty direction. The local MX track rents dirt bikes so I gave it a try Friday,I absolutely LOVED IT!So
