Hey members-Can somebody quote me a fair price for a rack of carbs a member is asking to buy from me. The facts:
They came with a used 750 Maxim motor I bought once. I have never used them.
I have had the hats & the bowls off-nothing broken & all parts are there. As a precaution, I would expect to go thru & give a thorough cleaning & replace all gaskets & seals, if it was myself buying a used rack of carbs.
Member has offered $50 shipped. I checked eBay & found the same for $125-$240.
I wouldnt mind having my spare carbs around, & on the other hand I really like helping out other members. If somebody could give me an estimate what I should charge (not including an XJ member discount which will be factored in) please chime in. Thanks alot.

Do an advanced ebay search and check the box marked "completed li.stings"

Then look for a set that sold that are in about the same condition. Most of the completed listings for $150-$250 will be unsold.

However, to me it seems a bit on the low side for shipped, unless they are in very bad shape. You could get more if you are willing to do some cleaning and replace the rubber bits.

Thanks alot for the response, tskaz. Ive come to value your opinions. I had pretty much the same ideas. I buy way more stuff than I sell, so a second opinion never hurts. Ride safe bro.

I would sell a set like that for 100 - 150 plus shipping. Depending on condition of the hats and drain screws free and un- stripped.
If they were virgin and in mint condition I would go as high as 250.

Thanks Mn -My carbs here are in pretty darn good shape. The 2 inside hats have lost some chrome & the PO mangled up the drain screws but theyre operational. My buyer only needs carb bodies if I understand correctly. I think it would be a shame to tear into a good, complete bank just for parts. Anybody out there have a set of carb bodies for a 650 Maxim?

I just paid $135 for a spare set of carbs that i plan on taking to church. They are real greasy but otherwise are in good shape. If the buyer is strapped for cash, and your a nice guy, sell 'em. I think you could get more if you wanted though, $50 shipped is a real good deal. Not trying to screw any forum members outta a good deal, just my two cents...

I"ve stayed around the $100 mark for a good set of carbs. For a set that has been sitting and needs a lot of attention I've stayed around the $30.00 to $50.00 mark. I would also agree with above statements that most of the ebay prices you've seen are probably not sold. Just because a price is listed, doesn't mean anyone is going to buy it for that. Like they said, you'll need to do an advanced search and look for only completed auctions. The ones in green are ones that sold, the ones in red didn't sell.

    Good luck!

    Dave
