This has probably been asked before but what do the three electrical components on the left side of my maxim airbox do? I think the finned one is called a rectifier? I tried to upload pics but they're too big from my phone I guess. Im going over my wiring and its a mess, alot of wires going nowhere, some from said parts, worries me

    Starting from top left.
The finned item is the regulator/rectifer, This is what controls the charging sytem of your bike.
The square black box with the red lable is the TCI. This controls the ignition system on the bike.
the small square metal box is the sidestand relay. This is the item that causes the bike to not start with the side stand down.

Thank you for the reply! Now my bike wont start, it turns over but just doesn't fire up, it seems weak, could one of these parts cause that?

First some questions so that the condition of the bike can be determined.

Have you replaced the stock fuse block? This is known to be the cause of many electrical problems with these bikes.

Is the battery fully charged, and load tested? An old weak battery may not give enough power to start the bike. Bike batteries in general are only good for approx 2-3 years.

Have you gone through the entire wiring harness to clean out any corrosion in the conectors? This includes, but not limited to the spaghetti bowl (aka headlight bucket), electonics panel (pictured above). Any corrosion will cause a loss of power.

The battery is good, and only two weeks old, all lights come on, I just got gas today, although it is acting the way it did when I ran out of gas last week, but the petcock is good, I just checked it. I haven't gone over the wiring that well no, but I've rode it everyday since I got it and had no problems. I was cleaning up the wiring a bit as the bike is pretty stripped, with no turn signals, dimmer switch or anything and cut off some plugs that were just hanging. It has to be something I did tonight

It is highly possible in the pulling, and cutting that you may have pulled a wire loose, or cut a needed wire. Make sure all the remaining wire connections are clean, and tight.

I'll check. I'm only hoping that the fact that it tries to start is a good sign. Thanks for the help

Ground hugger- Three of the wires coming from the bottom plug on the TCI in Ghosts pic had butt splices on them that were oily and dirty, I only had one splice left so I replaced the one on the black wire with the white line on it (couldn't tell you why) put my tank back on and she fired right up. I honestly don't know if that's what it was or not but I didn't have anymore problems today
