what year air boxes fit a 1981 xj650??

    Hi everyone. Great forum you have here. 2 weeks ago i bought a 1981 xj 650 form a guy for $450. It needed nothing for inspection but ity would not run.

    I brought it home filled the tank with new fuel and she fired right up. The carbs have been cleaned now and i ride it every day.

    The problem is.. It has POD filters and it bogs from 5000-5500 and around 3000 rpm. Id does have larger jets in the carbs 118.The PO gave me a box of parts with it but the air box had been cut in half and i only have one peice...

    So i am going to start surching for a air box. any ideas if it has to be from a 81?

    The airbox was available on the following bikes

    4H7-14401-00-00 AIR CLNR CASE ASSEMBLY

    XJ650G-K - 80 - 83 Maxim
    XJ650LH - 1981 Midnight Maxim
    XJ650RJ - 1982 Seca
