When I got my bike there was oil all over the front of engine below the head, I thought head gasket, I changed the oil, It was two quarts overfull with oil when I got it, Degreased and steam cleaned the engine.

I took it for a 70 mile cruise last night, Took her up to 8000 rpms pleany of times, ( man these bikes are fun) Got back home and not a drop of oil leaked out, so seapage or anything.

I'm going to keep an eye on it, but don't know if I should worry or not, I beat on the bike enough as to were if it was going to leak it should have, but I guess all I can to is ride it and find out.

Just courious if this has happened to anyone else

I have a small leak in my valve cover gasket, and since I changed the oil this spring, it seems like there isn't much (if any) oil seeping out anymore. I switched to synthetic oil this time and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it. I know I wasn't over filled before, so that can't be the cause.

Nope, my baby has a non-binding agreement that I perform all maintenance required in exchange for the enjoyment of her services.

Having 2 quarts over could be the reason for the leak. Ergo, you fixed it.

Not this bike, but my last one (750 Cow-a-socky). Rode it to work one day, stopped somewhere on the way, went to get back on the road and the engine was idling rough, I think (it's been a while) and stumbled like mad when I tried to give it throttle.

Got to work, called a nearby shop, asked a co-worker to follow me over and give me a ride back. Started the bike, started stumbling down the road, and suddenly it roared back to life. The shop found nothing out of the ordinary, and I never had that problem again.

Synthetic is NOT "thinner". The reason some synthetics "cause" leaks is due to the fact that mineral-based oil leaves deposits behind which can tend to self-seal minute leaks. The residue is cumulative and builds layers of self-sealing deposits. When synthetic oil is introduced to an engine with large amounts of oil deposits inside, it tends to "clean" the motor and release the deposits, sometimes opening up leaks that were temporarily sealed; sometimes sending flakes and chunks of sludge through the engine which can wreak havoc on oil screens, etc. You should avoid changing over to synth on a high-mileage (20,000+) engine for this reason, unless it has been disassembled and cleaned. (I'm sure there are those who disagree with this theory, but it has been quite well-publicized for some time now.)
